Jerry Billups was born and raised in Cleveland’s inner-city, and has called several neighborhoods home. He has attended close to ten different Cleveland Public Schools finally graduating from John Marshall High School where he was a standout varsity football player and wrestler. Following graduation Jerry pursued high education at the University of Toledo still trying to find himself Jerry spent the majority of five years studying mathematics also taking time to study sports science before earning a bachelor in recreation management. While at the University of Toledo Jerry taught him how to invest in stock money in stocks and began competing in stock market competitions, winning several and finishing in the top one percent of CNBC’s Million Dollar Portfolio Challenge. During those years at the University of Toledo Jerry realized his passion for working with the youth gaining employment with the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Cleveland and Toledo. Upon graduation Jerry further pursued fulltime employment with the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Cleveland as the Education Services Instructor, developing education related programs, and working within the community at local schools helping students with a vast array challenges. In 2008 Jerry was nominated and accepted into the Treu-Mart fellowship, further developing his skills and resources as a youth development professional. Currently Jerry is happily serving the Slavic village community working at the Boy’s and Girl’s, as a member of South High School Closing the Achievement Gap team of mentor’s, and as the co-founder of Six Duece Enterprise taking on many community development projects uplifting communities around the city.Jerry is not only well educated or well experienced in terms of work experience but Jerry has experienced those very same situations that face our youth today. Combine that experience with the fact that he is willing and more importantly able to connect with our youth in a way that separates him from most youth development professionals.
