Brotherly Love

Brotherly Love

Brotherly Love is a mentoring program for young males between the ages of 8 and 21. It is the “Brother” program of 62 Hearts.

Six Duece Enterprises started mentoring while still in college at The University of Toledo. The first protégés were college freshmen and young men from the Boys & Girls Club of Toledo. At the time, the program did not have a name, but the core values of respect, loyalty, manhood, health & hygiene, and intellect were instilled.

Upon graduating from college, SDE took the mentoring program to the next level by forming a partnership with The Distinguished Men of Excellence (DME) in 2007. After a year and a half of mentoring more than 40 young inner-city males, the men of Six Duece Enterprises decided to move on with their own program as well as the other ventures under the umbrella.

Brotherly Love is an intimate mentoring program. The mentors in Brotherly Love are 100% committed to setting strong constructive real life examples and serving as epitomes of how a man should conduct and handle himself.  The program focuses more on males in and from the inner-city, but is not only limited to that population. Protégés are picked as a choice from the Mentors. Brotherly Love requires that both the Protégé and Mentor are dedicated in helping each other become a man of value and principle.

For those who are interested in becoming a Mentor or a Protégé, please contact Andre R. Russell at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or any SDE representative.

"Feel Good About You"

SIX DUECE ENTERPRISES MEMORANDUM

TO: ALL

FROM: Six Duece Enterprises

SUBJECT: ACHIEVELAND’S "FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOU" CAMPAIGN

DATE:

Before I share with you my story and the reason why I am so passionate about this project, I want to briefly explain the program and the company that has facilitated my passion. Six Duece Enterprises (www.sixduece.com) is my company that I own and run with my best friends and partners. One of our flagship programs is the Achieveland campaign. Achieveland’s mission is to promote higher education and assist those in need. Another program in our company is 62 Hearts, which is a program aimed at empowering, motivating and inspiring young ladies and women for life long success. Both of these programs will be collaborating with Sports and Spine Physical Therapy, Inc., friends, partners, sponsors and associates to "change the look of success" and help our youth feel good about themselves.

Yesterday after returning home from the mall and placing my new purchases in my closet I realized that I have a whole lot more than I really need. And immediately it made me reminisce on times when my mother couldn’t afford to buy me the latest shoes and clothes for school. My first pair of Nikes came from my next door neighbor. I remember it like it was yesterday! They were a size too big and I wore 3 pair of socks so that I could fit them. I scrubbed the shoes until they were pristine and washed the shoestrings in the washer machine. I could wait to go to school the next day! I woke up early. I raised my hand at almost every question the teacher asked. I repeatedly wanted to go to the board to answer questions so that my classmates could see that I no longer had on "buddies." I clearly remember feeling really good about myself; consequentially, it made me want to achieve my goals. Still to this day, feeling good gives me the passion and vigor that is needed to be successful.

My idea is unlike the traditional "back to school" campaigns. I avidly believe that all people have the right to be successful and unfortunately persons in below par economic situations just don’t have the same opportunities. If people would not have helped me, it may be possible that I would have turned to the streets for answers. My idea is a challenge to you all. I challenge you to improve someone’s life and help prepare them for the next chapter in their education. I speak for all of Six Duece when I say that education has been the foundation to all of our successes. This drive starts today (Wednesday August 13, 2008) and ends on Friday August 22, 2008. We will not be collecting supplies as many other organizations already do this. We will not be donating clothing to an agency or a club. We are going to directly influence and impact the lives of the less fortunate.

How can you help? First, it is imperative that you understand how we roll. One of the reasons Sports and Spine has been successful is that we treat every patient like we would want our mothers, fathers, and loved ones treated. Six Duece Enterprises has adopted this same principle. So all

donations of material things and time will only be accepted with the same affection, love and care that an individual would give their loved one.

The main goal of this campaign is to uplift families and communities! Similar to the story I shared, I know that feeling good about yourself motivates you to reach your potential. At Sports and Spine Charlotte and Beachwood, we will be accepting unopened packs of T-shirts, socks, undershirts, gym shorts, boxer, underwear, panties, bra, training bras. Also, we’ve observed in our community work that hygiene is a prevalent problem in the inner city. We will also be accepting toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, lotion, feminine hygiene supplies, hair brushes and combs. Clean, ironed clothing will also be accepted. This is a discriminatory campaign meaning, supplies will not necessarily be given to people on first come first serve basis, but rather on need. If any monies are donated, they will be sent to either a barber shop or a beauty salon so that kids can get their hair cut or done before school starts.

The main challenge is not to donate something, but to personally uplift a person, family or community. This can be also achieved through a conversation, a phone call, a visit. So far, I have commitments from individuals in Seattle; DC; San Diego; Charlotte; Hawaii; Toledo; Cleveland; Columbus; Springfield; and New York City. Participation includes individuals from businessmen, healthcare professionals, Delta’s, AKA’s, Kappa’s, United States Navy and etc. This is how we "change the look of success!"

If you are interested in participating, or if you know of an individual that is in need. Please contact André R. Russell at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Thanks for you time, consideration and support.

Sincerely,

André R. Russell
